Recursion

In my image I chose to take a picture of a phone, open that picture and use another phone to take a picture. Recursion is the repeated pattern of a procedure, as you can see the image seems to repeat itself. My voicethread describes the definition of recursion, and how I created my image. 

Scratch

My algorithm was fairly simple. To create the desired effect I used the glide to x and y function. This made it so I could just click a place on my background, and the cat will move to the selected location.

Light Bot

 I first had to identify the pattern within the problem, once I identified the pattern I put the steps I wanted light bot to execute in P1. To keep my procedure under the maximum steps, I made my P1 into a generic sequence. This made it easy to complete the problem because I did not have to write the same steps over and over. I also made sure to test my steps to make sure everything was working the way that I wanted.

To find the answer for this problem you have to identify the pattern. It is easy to find what the result of the first stage is. We are able to infer this outcome because we are given the outcome of the second log. This was a fairly easy problem to solve because they gave us the second drawing.

Bebra

In this assignment we had to identify the pattern in order to find how to get the robot out of the maze. Once you identify one of the directions you can find out the rest. This was similar to an algorithm because you first made steps to find where you are going, and then you can speed through the rest. Using an algorithm was helpful because you did not have to guess as much

Infographic

Overall I really enjoyed this assignment because I got to learn about how to design a infographic, and use Canva. In my infographic I chose Norwester font because it is clear and easy to read. I also chose this font because it is fun and serious at the same time. Norwester font is a nice font because it is not as boring as times new roman or arial fonts. I chose to make the font color white because as I learned in the essential Canva tools tutorial you have to make sure the text color stands out on the template. I decided to use lines to separate each idea to keep my infographic organized and easy to read. I went with a basic layout that matches the layout of my blog so that when inserted into my blog it will look like it belongs there. It is important to not only marry the text to the layout, but also the layout to the blog. I enjoyed this assignment because we were given more creative freedom to design are infographic. I also liked the Canva interface because it was easy to use and fun to use. My favorite part of this assignment was actually creating the infographic because it is interesting to design your own graphic online as oposed to on paper. I think that I can use Canva in the future because of how easy it is to use. I found it interesting that the Canva website had so many free templates, fonts, layouts, and shapes. I think that Cava is a great resource that I am going to use in the future.

What effective study skill or approach to your academic progress stood out as working well for you and why?

The effective study skill or approach that stood out to me as working well was putting my phone in the other room and listening to music. I had always been opposed to listening to music while doing any homework, but I tried listening to music while working and it has really made a difference. I think listening to music is so helpful for me because it allows me to relax and focus on the task at hand. It also gives me an easy way to block out the distracting noises present in every day life. Also for Christmas I received a pair of noise cancelling headphones that are extremely beneficial to me.

Of what assignment, project, activity, etc. are you most proud and why?

I am most proud of my research paper for visual art history. I am proud of this assignment because I received an -A and I had put a lot of effort and hard work into writing it. I was also proud because I usually struggle with writing, but for some reason this paper seemed easier than usual. I think that this is mostly because I took extensive writing classes over the summer to get where I wanted to be with my writing. I also believe that I have matured and that has helped my writing as well as the class.

What didn't achieve the results you intended and why not?

LAKACS Learning Center

I didn't achieve the results I wanted on my fist couple of blog posts in English because I was not completely sure of what was expected of me. I think that the main reason I did poorly on my first couple of blog posts is that I hadn't known my teacher, Ms. Pringle for long enough to know what she expects, grades hardly on. I think that I have made positive steps because now I am scoring higher on my blog posts, and I asked questions about I needed to do to get a good grade.

To what extent did content from this class prove useful to you and why or why not?

I do not think this class helped me that much because the only website I have used was Evernote, for taking notes in some of my classes. I think that I also have not used much from this class because I do not have a note based class yet. I think that second semester when I have history I will used the new knowledge from this class. I also think that compared to the beginning of year I have gotten a better student in this class. I now turn in my assignments and do not procrastinate as much.

In the second semester I want to continue to improve my grades. I am going to pay more attention in class and talk less as well. I will achieve both of these tasks by reminding myself that I am at school to learn, and by remembering that as the oldest in my family I need to set a better example for my siblings.
